We look forward to serving you. In order to make your
riding experience pleasant, safe, and productive, please
follow these guidelines:
ATTENDANCE:
Absence sheets are posted in the arena—please list scheduled
absences as soon as they are known.
Illness: Students are expected to attend each class or notify
the center as early in the day as possible. Please call 857-4141.
Change in Medical Conditions: Your instructor MUST be
notified immediately of any change in your medical condition (medications,
surgeries, seizure activity, etc.)
Vacation: Please notify us as early as possible when you know
you will be absent from class.
Make up: If classes are cancelled, make up classes will be scheduled
for the week following the end of the session (if volunteers are available.)
Cancellation of Classes: Classes are automatically cancelled
for weather warnings. Classes are also cancelled if the heat
index is 95 or aboveor if wind-chill is below 20 or if driving
conditions are unsafe. (The recorded message at the riding center will
indicate heat cancellations two hours prior to class time.)
SPECTATORS: are welcome! For everyones safety, please do
not talk to or coach students during class. You may take pictures from
outside the rail. If you should wish to enter the arena, you must consult
the instructor.
GUM: No gum or candy allowed while riding.
CLOTHING:
- All students must wear an approved helmet while riding. Helmets
are provided at the riding center and American Society for Testing
and Materials – Safety Equipment Institute (ASTM-WEI) approved.
If you would like to purchase your own helmet, please notify your
instructor.
- Long pants and socks are required, even on hot days, to prevent
pinched skin.
- Pants made of a stretchy material are suggested.
- Boots with heels are preferred; tennis shoes are acceptable
ARRIVAL: Please arrive early enough to be fitted
with your helmet and to greet your volunteers. Once class
has begun, no one else will be mounted.
PETS: Not Allowed.
SIBLINGS: Allowed, if supervised by an adult.
PARKING: For students: hard surface near barn. For
volunteers: gravel lot in front of house.
CENTER RULES:
- All children must be under adult supervision at all
times
- No one is allowed in pastures
- No smoking
- All people must wear a helmet at all times while
mounted
- No one is allowed in horse barn without member of
horse committee present
- No one allowed on mounting ramp (except instructor
and student being mounted)
- No talking while standing at the rail, please
