The benefits to program participants range
from recreational to building self esteem, communication, strength and
confidence. Volunteers receive personal satisfaction in helping people
with disabilities participate in this unique recreational therapy while
helping the community.

The
Riding Center Facility
The Miracles in Motion Riding Center, located a short drive from Swisher,
Iowa, is on 70 acres of land. Indoor and outdoor arenas and a stable
with 10 stalls round out the equine facility. Program Director Sue Bock
keeps the program running from the office in the back of the house.
In 2006,
through grants, donors and volunteers, a new outdoor arena and pavilion
were added. A sensory trail will be incorporated into the space around
these new facilities.
The facility is totally accessible, including a unique mounting ramp
with a lift to ensure safety and ease in mounting riders. Saddles have
peacock stirrups for safety; saddles and bareback pads are selected
with the rider's skill level in mind. We use adaptive equipment in accordance
with NARHA standards to allow riders to make the best use of their abilities.
Directions
to the Site
To reach the center, take I-380 to the Swisher exit (just south of the
Cedar Rapids airport). Go west through the town of Swisher, then continue
1.5 more miles west. The riding center is on the left (south) side of
the road and is identified by a sign with the Miracles logo.
